Most of the time I prefer to take in about 50g carbs (rice/oats) and 7oz of meat and a small handful of almonds about 90 minutes prior to lifting, and then another 50g carbs (white rice/waxy maize) with another 7oz meat as soon as i finish training and get home. The only time I cut carbs out completely is if im depleting on that day.

It usually works out that I have a Hydro whey shake before with some oats or rice cakes, then about 10 oz ground turkey and a half cup brown rice after.
